Terminology, language and protocols
As part of our collective work to Uphold Truth and Reconciliation at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, we want to provide the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community with culturally-informed guidance on a variety of topics, including how to acknowledge traditional Indigenous lands, inclusive and antiracist language for writers and communicators and Indigenous protocols for ceremonies and other events.
The guidance and resources contained or linked to in this section should be seen as living documents that may be added to or amended over time.
Indigenous Protocols
Guidelines to honour and pay respect to Indigenous peoples at ceremonies and events across ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s campuses, including inviting and involving Indigenous Elders.
Language and Terminology
Resources to help you learn and understand Indigenous language and terminology, as well as links to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s inclusive and antiracist language guidelines.
