The Political Transition in Bangladesh
About the Event
Nearly a year after the 2024 July Revolution in Bangladesh, CCMS had the opportunity to host three brilliant scholar-activists for a discussion on the most significant rupture in the political life of Bangladesh in recent memory.
Speakers:
Meghmallar Bose
Megh is the current President of the Bangladesh Student Union at Dhaka University. He has been involved in student politics at Dhaka University, organizing against the recently deposed Awami League’s student wing for over X years. Through last July, Megh was involved in the coordination of the student protests on the ground and brings perspective on both the events of last July as well as the longer term political developments from on the ground.
Shehzad Arifeen
Shehzad is a PhD candidate at the University of Texas, Austin and Senior Lecturer at BRAC University, Bangladesh. His research focuses on infrastructure-led development and postcolonial state-building in Bangladesh. As a political commentator and researcher, he has routinely published op-eds and provided commentary on a wide range of issues, ranging from the organized struggle of garments workers to the popular discourse surrounding politics in Bangladesh.

Azraf Uddin Ahmad
The event will be moderated/hosted by Azraf Uddin Ahmad. Azraf is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Economics at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and a Lecturer at BRAC University (on leave). His research focuses on various development issues facing Bangladesh using applied microeconomics.
