Announcing ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s provost search committee, website and townhall
This message is sent on behalf of Joy Johnson, president and vice-chancellor. It has been sent to all faculty and staff. This message will also be shared with ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV students.
Hello everyone,
As you may be aware, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV has begun a search for a new provost and vice-president academic.
Today, we’re happy to share the membership of the search committee that will select ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s new provost and vice-president academic, and to announce the launch of the provost search webpage, which will include important dates to note and ways to get involved. .
Professor Wade Parkhouse’s term as vice-president academic and provost pro tem ends on Aug. 31, 2023. In October 2022, a call for nominations for elected faculty and staff positions on the search committee was sent to the respective groups. The committee was established in accordance with policy .
The search committee will be chaired by ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV President Joy Johnson. Membership includes Martin Pochurko, vice-president, finance and administration, three deans, eight faculty and two support staff members. There is also a representative from the faculty association and the student societies. .
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is actively strengthening the provost role to reflect the importance of the academic mission. As such, the provost will take a central role in strategic resource allocation and management and oversee new senior roles within the VPA portfolio, including the deputy provost and a senior Indigenous leadership position.
Early in this provost search, which is expected to continue through the spring of 2023, the committee will engage the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community in robust consultation, gathering input into a candidate profile.
To help shape the position description for candidate recruitment, you are invited to share your input at a virtual townhall, because no one knows ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV as well as faculty, staff and students.
We want to hear what experience, leadership and personal qualities you feel are important in selecting the next provost and vice-president academic. ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is accepting feedback on the position and candidate profile until noon on Nov. 22, 2022. Feedback can be provided at the , through a or through written feedback.
Sincerely,
Joy Johnson
