Peter Schaub Memorial Book Prize

This prize, given annually to a Geography student in the graduating class, is dedicated to the memory of Peter Schaub, a former Dean's medal award winner and outstanding geography student, who was an active participant in the Geography Student Union (GSU).

This year's recipient, Claire Howell, is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Human Geography with a certificate in Urban Studies.

My name is Claire Howell and I am graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Geography Honours and a certificate in Urban Studies. I just completed my undergraduate thesis which discusses using food as a community political tool to respond to gentrification and food insecurity in Toronto and Manhattan's Chinatowns.

In the fall, I will be attending York University in Toronto where I will be pursuing a MA in Geography, hoping to continue on the same research path as my thesis and develop it further. In the meantime, I'll be taking this summer off to rest, travel and work before heading to Toronto!

Congratulations Claire!
