BIO3 Lab

Researchers at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's BIO3 Lab can safely conduct infectious disease research on Risk Group 3 pathogens to help advance breakthrough discoveries.

Open to both qualified investigators from the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV research community and non-¶¡ÏãÔ°AV academic and corporate researchers, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Biocontainment of Infectious Organisms level 3 (BIO3) Lab is one of a few biosecure facilities in Canada that are certified to meet the highest safety standards defined by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The BIO3 Lab offers a protected and reliable workspace for qualified and approved investigators to conduct research involving Risk Group 3 pathogens. Insight from such research may lead or contribute to breakthrough discoveries against human diseases. This facility is the first-of-its-kind at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.

Access to the BIO3 Lab requires medical clearance, fulfillment of biosafety and biosecurity requirements, approval by ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Biosafety Committee, proven expertise and competence, facility orientation and training, and approval by the Lab’s Operations Director. Project-specific consultation or training by the BIO3 Lab team may also be required in select instances.
