John K. Friesen Conference 2025
On June 5鈥�6, 2025, in Vancouver, the 丁香园AV Gerontology Research Centre (GRC) and the Department of Gerontology hosted the 32nd John K. Friesen Conference. This annual event addresses the continuing education needs of those involved in planning, administering, and delivering services for older adults, reflecting John Friesen鈥檚 lifelong commitment to adult education and the well-being of an aging population.
The 2025 conference theme, 鈥淩esearch, Practice and Policy to Enhance Community-Based Senior Services,鈥� brought together experts from academic, community, NGO, government, and private sectors to explore emerging issues and showcase innovations in community care and support systems for a rapidly aging society. Highlights include keynote addresses; topical panel discussions, symposia, and poster displays presented by local, national, and international speakers representing community organizations, NGOs, government, and academic sectors. Our team also participated in the conference by showcasing ongoing research from the lab. Letitia, our Project Coordinator and PhD student, represented the Stakeholders鈥� Walkability/Wheelability Audit in Neighborhoods (SWAN) project at the booth, while graduate research assistant Nushaiba engaged attendees with insights from the Aging in the Right Place (AIRP) project.
