Teaching Assistants

The Faculty of Health Sciences is re-posting the following TA positions for the Fall Semester 2025. The posting closes on August 14 at 11:55 PM.

 

Course Details:

HSCI 442 D100 (BBY) – Immunology Laboratory  

  • Instructor: Dr. Ralph Pantophlet
  • Lecture: Tu 1:30 PM-5:20 PM
  • Tutorial: Mo 9:30 AM-12:20 PM

Course Specific Information:

TAs will be responsible for providing feedback on lab reports and should demonstrate the ability to support team-based learning in a laboratory setting. TAs should have a background in immunology, molecular or cell biology, or a related discipline. Experience with flow cytometry, ELISA, and basic cell culture techniques is expected, and familiarity with FlowJo and GraphPad Prism is strongly preferred.

TAs are expected to complete EHS lab safety training, attend orientation, assist during all scheduled class sessions, and provide support via ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Canvas.

 

HSCI 476 D100 (BBY) – Seminar in Molecular Basis of Drug Action and Environmental Exposure

  • Instructor: Dr. Gratien Prefontaine
  • Lecture: Fr 2:30 PM-5:20 PM

 

HSCI 845 G100 (BBY) – Environmental and Occupational Health

  • Instructor: Dr. Chris Buse
  • Lecture: Tu 2:30 PM-5:20 PM

 

 

The number of Base Units (BU) will depend on the course enrolment. The BU range for HSCI courses with tutorials is 3.17 – 5.17. The BU range for HSCI courses without tutorials is 3.17 – 4.17. For the TA Pay Rates please visit this link here. Salary and conditions are determined by the

 

First day of classes is September 3, 2025, and last day of exams is December 16, 2025.

Many departments include a wide range of specializations and, in order to be appointed, a person must have sufficient knowledge of the course to interpret the course material. Qualifications for the TA/TM positions in HSCI courses include experience with course subject matter obtained either via successful coursework completed in the area or direct practical experience. Course subject matter can be found described in the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV fall calendar.

Qualified TAs/TMs will also have demonstrated proficiency in English communication skills, both oral and written.

Applicants will not be considered for a position in a course in which they are currently enrolled.
