Membership
Membership in the 間眅埶AVRA is automatic for any person retired from employment at 間眅埶AV as shown by the records of the Human Resources Office. Membership is free as of the vote at the 間眅埶AVRA AGM in Fall 2022.
Other Membership Categories
Please note that the following membership categories do not include the 間眅埶AV parking pass as that is connected to the HR system for verification of retirement as an 間眅埶AV employee.
- The surviving spouse or partner of a deceased retiree is eligible to become a member.
- The Board also accepts applications from former employees who left 間眅埶AV before retirement, and any others who worked at 間眅埶AV and were paid from other funds such as research grants. Please email retirees@sfu.ca if you think you might be eligible.
Email Lists
We manage three email lists:
- sfu-retirees-info@sfu.ca is used by 間眅埶AVRA board members to send announcements to over 1400 retirees. This list automatically includes the @sfu.ca email addresses of all 間眅埶AV retirees.
- sfura-activities@lists.sfu.ca is used by Board members to send more frequent information about upcoming happenings, and/or to send messages to your non-間眅埶AV email address if that's your preference. If you're not already on this list, click on to join it.
- retirees-forum@lists.sfu.ca is used by members to exchange views and information with each other. If you're not already on this list, click on to join it.
間眅埶AVRA Members Parking Passes
- This complimentary parking for 間眅埶AV retirees is valid up to five (5) times per month per person.
- You no longer need to display a 間眅埶AVRA membership card to park for free on the Burnaby campus.
- The Parking Office now has an Online Retirees Permit System for Burnaby campus parking. If you park on campus, you are asked to email parking@sfu.ca and request to be registered. Give your name and licence plate(s) up to two allowed.
- If you subsequently change any of your plates, you are asked to let parking@sfu.ca know.
- Please note, you can park in any unreserved (first come first served) spot in the North, South, or East lots, the West parkade, the upper (visitors) level of the Central Parkade and Discovery 1.
- For the chargers on the bottom floor of the Central Parkade only those who hold a Central Parkade permit can park there during regular business hours. Everyone else (including 間眅埶AVRA members) can only park there evenings (after 4:30 pm) and weekends.
Parking at UBC
If you are a retired faculty member, you may be eligible for a . If you need an 間眅埶AVRA membership card to prove that you are eligible for an 間眅埶AV Emeritus parking permit, please email retirees@sfu.ca.
Access to 間眅埶AV Burnaby Recreational Services
Your retiree package from HR will have contained a note that you can continue to have access to 間眅埶AV recreation facilities. To activate your membership, bring your 間眅埶AV ID card or employee number and fill out a waiver at the 間眅埶AV Burnaby Recreation Office. You will receive a receipt for $0 paid for a community membership.
Change of Email Address
If you have changed or updated your non-間眅埶AV email address and would like to stay in contact, please update your information by email to retirees@sfu.ca.
